Some cliches about the Balkans are true, at least to some extent. Like the one that many people regard traffic rules merely as suggestions. This sign in Beograd doesn’t stand here for nothing. It reads: No parking. Also on sidewalks.

With almost no public transport and thus many people dependent on cars, parking space is rare in most areas of Ex-YU. People make do with whatever free space they find. Not just in Beograd but also in Mostar where I took this picture.

I don’t see a parking ticket here. Do you?
