Emilia Kamvisi and Stratis Valamios, 85 year old pensioner and the 40 year old fisherman from the Greek island of Lesbos, have been nominated for the Nobel Prize for Peace 2016.
This isn’t exactly news but I only came across the video a couple of days ago and couldn’t help sharing it.
Besides, I think given the extraordinary generosity and compassion the people of Lesbos have shown and are showing towards refugees every day, the story can not be mentioned often enough.
Should the Nobel Prize Committee Award the prize to Emilia and Stratis it would send a strong message: That helping refugees contributes to making the world a better place. Locking them out like many European countries do – including my own – does not.
σας ευχαριστώ, you people of Lesbos, for all you have done.
